Resources for those impacted by the wildfires

October 31, 2019

Across California, wildfires have been ravaging our communities — displacing our friends and neighbors, destroying dozens of homes, and filling the air with acrid smoke.

We all know someone who’s been impacted (some of our staff are hosting evacuees from Sonoma), and our hearts are with everyone whose lives have been upended. We’re incredibly grateful to the firefighters and first responders on the front lines.

For those of you who have been evacuated or otherwise disrupted by the fires, we’ve compiled a list of resources — information about safe evacuation, how to find vital resources for yourself and your family, and which roads are currently closed.

In general, you can check https://www.caloes.ca.gov/ during emergencies for other helpful resources.

If you’re not impacted by the fires but would like to help, here is a list of nonprofits that offer services and supplies to evacuees across the state:

  • You can give to the Red Cross by texting “REDCROSS” to 90999 to make a $10 donation or give online here.
  • The Center for Disaster Philanthropy has granted millions towards fire relief in years past and are fundraising to do the same this year. Give here.
  • The California Fire Foundation is helping victims who have lost property buy essentials. Donate here.

Be safe — and pray for cooler, calmer weather.

Thanks,
