Reduces housing costs and increase opportunities for homeownership by rewarding high-quality construction, and allowing builders to fix problems in newly-constructed homes before triggering costly lawyer fees and court proceedings.

AB 1406 (Ward): Condo Deposits
Gives more Californians a pathway to affordable homeownership by raising current limits on homebuyer deposits in new housing developments. The bill helps builders lower their construction and financing costs by reducing risk to lenders and investors, ultimately leading to lower-cost homes for Californians.

AB 2074 (Haney): Downtown High Rise Districts
Accelerates the recovery of dense, urban neighborhoods in California’s largest cities by streamlining the construction of high-rise, residential and mixed-use developments near regional transit hubs. The bill includes a low-interest revolving loan fund that will help lower construction costs.

AB 1732 (Alvarez and Wicks): Student Housing
Expands the CEQA infill housing exemption to include UC, CSU, and CCC housing projects.

AB 1740 (Zbur): Coastal Housing & Bike Lanes
Allows localities to circumvent California Coastal Commission approvals for certain housing and transportation projects if they meet the designation of an urban, multimodal community. Cities could designate themselves as this if they meet certain conditions, such as having at least one high-quality transit corridor or transit priority area in the city and having plans with goals to decrease greenhouse gas emissions.

AB 2433 (Alvarez) DBL Concessions & Approvals
Provides additional concessions or waivers for developers with deed-restricted, for-sale units for low- and moderate-income families and would require local agencies to inform developers if their project meets DBL standards, and would require DBL projects to be approved by-right.
